Our project is really starting to take shape now ... Sunray has been launched, mast and rigging in place, and some of our personal belongings have already been stowed.

Our plan was to sail to Nibe during the Easter period, this should be our base for the time being.  However, due to bad weather (SNOW!) and Per having influenza, we had to postpone this trip. Easter Sunday

The reason why we are stopping in Nibe is because it is convenient for moving all our belongings onto Sunray and also because we are holding our official "farewell" party there.

On the home-front  we still need to sell some furniture, pictures and other household goods, we really need to get moving on these things!

On the boat-front we are still missing some practicalities.... extra equipment for rigging, engine spare parts, etc. etc. etc... and apart from that -  a long list of paper work such as insurance and other legal formalities.

Our short term itinerary looks like this:
  Glyngøre - Nibe                             21st-22nd April 2001
  Nibe - Aalborg                               7th May 2001
  Aalborg - Kaløvig                          11th-13th May 2001
And then departure from Kaløvig  20th May 2001 12.00 hrs!

So much has happened since we last wrote in this logbook so for the time being you will have to make do with some simple details:

We christened Sunray on 21st April, moved out of our apartment in Århus and on to the boat on the weekend after that.

We held our "farewell" party in Nibe with 60 of our best friends and Per's family, lots of good food by
Noelia,  lots of drinks and dancing.
Per's last Round Table meeting held on Sunray, lots of drink.
Per's last day of work on 10th May with a small "reception" on the boat, lots of drink again!
...and finally sailed "home" to Kaløvig with Per's parents on 12-13th May, more drinks.

So now we are spending our last few days in Århus rushing around getting all the formalities in order before our departure on Sunday, no drinks, just hard work.

20th May 2001 / Vicki / Kaløvig, Århus, Denmark

Today was our official ”leaving” day.  We had told so many peole about this that really many people turned up to wave goodbye to us and have one last farewell drink together.  There must have been around 30 people there !  It was a very touching moment when we finally hugged everyone and set sail at 12.00.   The start of our adventure!

We set sail outside the harbour and sailed in 10 / 13 m/s wind with an average speed of 8 knots/hr.  Sunray can really handle a hard wind like this without any problems at all.  Our destination port was Hou and by 15.00 we had already arrived!  Kaløvig Marina
